Questions People Have About God

In this blog I want to answer some very important questions people have about God. All of us have had questions about God. Questions like, is there really a God? If you believe the Bible, then where did God come from? Who made God? If there is a God, then why is there so much suffering in this world?

“In the beginning God created Heaven and the Earth” (Genesis 1:1). We find God first reveals Himself as Creator. The Divine Creator Who made man and all of creation. When the Bible says, “In the beginning God created…”, it is saying there is a divine, infinite, intelligent designer, and creator. Creation obviously points to evidence of a creator. The reason this is so important is because it means God is the divine creator who made mankind and we are therefore accountable to Him. Romans 1:20 KJV says, “For the invisible things of Him *(God’s nature and character) from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that we are without excuse.”

God also reveals Himself in His Word as the “Self-existing One”, “All-Sufficient One”, and as “Almighty God”. Isaiah 43:10-11 KJV says, “… before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be any after Me. I even I am the Lord and besides me there is no Savior.” In Isaiah 44:6-8 God says, “I am the first and I am the last and beside me there is no God.” Then in Isaiah 46:9-10 (please read) God says, I’m going to tell you how you know I am God, I am going to tell you the future- the end from the beginning. You see God’s Word, the Bible, is a prophetic book revealing future events with 100% accuracy. That is why we can trust it and the good news is we each are part of that plan. It is the plan revealing God’s will for each person to be saved, know God, and have a personal relationship with Him. John 3:16 KJV, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. We can do that by repenting of our sins and asking Jesus Christ to be our Lord and Savior.

Lastly, I believe more people reject the truth about God because of their misunderstanding of why there is suffering in this world and where it came from. God’s Word clearly teaches sickness, disease, disasters, tragedies, accidents, destruction, sin, and death all came as a result of the fall of man (man’s sin against God) and their author is Satan. God’s Word makes it clear the suffering and death we experience here are the result of man’s sin, not God’s cruelty. 1 John 4:8 tells us that God is Love and as I stated earlier, God so loved the world. You see Jesus clearly reveals God as the giver of life and deliverer of men and women and Satan as their destroyer. John 10:10 KJV, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.” Too few realize the consequence of man’s disobedience to God and the cost of sin. Romans 6:23 KJV tells us, “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Notice once again, sin brought death, which Satan is the giver of. Jesus brought life, which is what God gives us.
