God Cares About You Pt 2

In Psalms 119:68 we read, Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes. Many Christians don’t really doubt God is good but are confused over what God is good about. God’s goodness is clearly revealed in His plan of redemption for mankind. In other words His goodness to us can be seen in everything He redeemed us from. Galatians 3:13-14 states “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree v)14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ: that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Now according to Deuteronomy 28 the curse of the law was threefold; spiritual death, sickness and disease, and poverty or lack. What that means to us is that through the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, God in His goodness to mankind has provided eternal life, healing and divine health, and provision and wealth.

Most Christians undoubtedly are convinced that Jesus died so they could be saved and receive eternal life. However, many of these same Christians have never heard that God cares about their health and finances as well. The Word of God makes it clear that God cares about these areas of our lives and has made provision for each of us to experience these blessings also. Consider Psalms 103:2-3, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: v) 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases.” This tells us that at the same time God did something about our sins, He also did something about our sicknesses and diseases. This shows God cares about both the spiritual and physical well being of our lives.

The Word of God is so clear about His care for us and all the promises or benefits He has made for His children to enjoy. 3 John 2 is another example of this, “Beloved I wish (pray or will) above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers.” Here God tells us it is His will for us to experience His provision and health in our journey through life. Now I know the question some will have is, “well why am I not experiencing these things in my life if God want these things for me?” The answer is God’s will is not automatic. That means God’s will for our lives must be known about, believed upon, and received in our lives. The key to us experiencing these blessings or God’s will is in this verse as well, it says, even as thy soul prospers. You see, our soul prospering means our minds have to be changed to think in agreement with what God’s Word is telling us. When we begin to think right (in line with God’s Word), that will cause us to believe right, which in turn allows us to receive the blessings God promises in His Word. You could say it like this, without thinking right you cannot believe the right things and without believing what God’s Word says, you can never receive the salvation, healing, or prosperity that Jesus died to provide, all of which shows God’s love and care for you.
