Jesus, More Than Just a Man

No matter what time of the year you may find yourself reading this, those of the Christian faith celebrate the advent or Christ’s first coming to the Earth. Most of us have heard the Christmas story many times and its beauty still amazes us. In this blog I want to simply show us some important truths of our faith and remind us that Jesus was more than just a baby in a manger.

Jesus was God manifested in the flesh. God became a man.

John 1:1,14 KJV
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
1 Timothy 3:16 KJV
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Matthew 1:23 KJV
23Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Isaiah 9:6 KJV
6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Jesus came to save the world from its sins. Matthew 1:21 KJV  21And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Matthew 1:21 AMP
21 She will give birth to a son, and you shall name Him Jesus (The Lord is salvation), for He will save His people from their sins.
John 3:16 KJV
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 4:42 NIV
42 They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”

Jesus showed us what the Father was like
John 1:18 KJV
18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
John 14:9 KJV
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil
1 John 3:8 KJV
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Hebrews 2:14 KJV
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Acts 10:38 KJV
38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Jesus is the Christ, the promised Messiah Genesis 3:15 KJV

15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Mark 1:1 KJV
1The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
Mark 14:61-62 KJV
61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

John 6:69 KJV

69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

I conclude this blog reminding us that Jesus was more than just a man and that the scriptures tell the beautiful story of God’s plan of redemption. John reminds us why it was written, “but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.”*
*John 20:31 KJV
