3 Things God’s People are to Become

Titus 3:8 (Expanded Bible) This teaching is true and I want you to be sure the people understand these things. Then those who believe in God will be careful to use their lives for doing good. These things are good and will help everyone. Notice believers should use their lives for doing good. Things that are good and will help everyone. In this blog, I simply want to share 3 ways every believer can do good and help others by being lovers, lifters, and blessers. First, God want us to be lovers, lovers of God and lovers of people. Matthew 22:37-39 (KJV) Jesus said unto him, thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 1 John 3:23 (KJV) And this is his commandment, that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. Then Jesus tells us this love is necessary so the world will know that the Father sent Him and loves them just as much as He loves Jesus, John 17:23. Remember love never fails, it always wins out, 1 Corinthians 13:8. Secondly, God wants us to be lifters. One way we can is to learn to be encouragers. Encouragement is needed in everyone’s lives. Those who learn to be encouragers find themselves doing the will of God in building up others. In a day where there is so much going on to tear others down, let’s take the high road of encouraging and building up others around us. Thirdly, God wants us to be blessers. In Genesis 12:2 God told Abraham a word that is true for us as well, … I will bless you…and make you a blessing. You see, part of God’s plan in blessing us is to make us a blessing. The world, the flesh, and the devil will keep us selfish but God’s Word reveals to us His plan to make us a blessing. In Acts 20:35 Jesus reminds us it is more blessed to give than it is to receive. This tells us there is a greater blessing in being a blessing to others. Part of our blessing comes when we bless someone else. We were designed for this. We must realize when we give of ourselves in blessing others, it many times points others to the greatest giver, God Himself. Isn’t that the goal anyway? Let’s learn to be lovers, lifters, and blessers in ever increasing ways!
